INTERRAIL
Budapest
After Berlin and Prague, we hopped on a night train - the first of that trip - and headed further east to Budapest. We stayed in a hostel on the Buda side (left of the river) of the city, while Pest sat across the water to our right (judging from the panorama). That is how it gets it's name. Two cities become one: Budapest.
It was extremely hot. 40°C! So we played it smart: one day at the Széchenyi Baths and another on a sightseeing bus tour.
On one of those days I hiked up the Gellért Hill around sunset. I took several photos of the skyline and stitched them together to create the panorama below. It captures the Danube and its famous bridges, the Parliament building to the right, and the historic Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastion overlooking the city from the left.

Seventeen years later - crazy how long ago that now is - I went back for a weekend city break.
The opposite of that summer heat. This time is was freezing and the city was covered with snow. I had a closer look at the Parliament building and the Fisherman's Bastion (or Halászbástya), enjoyed the Christmas market and a fancy lunch at Costes.
