CASPIAN SEA
You require a visa to get in. Sorted in a matter of a week - though it says something like 3 working days online. That gave a bit of a scare. Could we even enter? But a day before departure, we got our documents approved.
Baku is relatively calm. The airport super quiet. A taxi into town costed next to nothing. Yandex has you sorted.
The city itself, outside of the old town, surprisingly pretty and modern. With a big promenade for the locals to wander around shop, eat and drink.
Obviously, I took plenty of pictures of the famous flames - the symbol of the oil production that makes this country incredibly rich - and the city circuit that I recognise from the races on television.
I really liked it. The food was nice. Local beer tasty. I imagine its overcrowded at the time of the F1. But other than that, a rarely visited place.
