WHITE RUSSIAN
Right before the world closed its doors, I took a trip to Minsk. In recent years, the country had actually opened up to tourism. As long as you entered through its capital airport.
I remember that on the way back, for the first time, I was confronted with Covid-19. A form was handed to all passengers and we were required to fill it in. Common practice in a few months time.
Minsk is like most other former Soviet capitals. I like the vibes. Highlight for sure was the collossal statue wall above the KFC. An interesting contrast between symbols of communism and kapitalism.
A big surprise was a night out in a bar, down in the old city center. A dark and simple place. But a great DJ playing the best early 2000s HipHop and R&B.
Too bad the world has changed since.
