My first trip to South America, I had to skip Ecuador. Not that I did not care for it, but I was more keen to visit Colombia at the end of my trip.

So I took a flight from Lima to Bogota at the time.

Hence, I had to fly all the way from Amsterdam to Quito to visit in the end. 11 years later.

Quito was an interesting capital. Not like any other I have seen. Mountaneous, a bit edgy in the streets. You really feel you are at high altitude (+4000m).

While I lost my camera half way.., the trip was a big success. One of the lesser traveled to places along that route that I took back in 2011, but certainly a top destination if you are into nature.
