THE SMILING-COAST

I could not leave the opportunity un tapped when visiting Senegal. Gambia is right in the middle, not entirely landlocked, but just about if not for a tiny strip of shoreline. Some call it the thong of Senegal. Senegambia is the name they give the two countries combined.

It is a popular destination for, well.. not sure how to put it, perhaps best to leave that undiscussed. "Its nice to be nice" afterall. I stayed in Kololi Beach. There are a few resort hotels along the coast. Plenty of construction going on as well.

For a destination so popular with westeners, it was interesting to see how bare bones minimum the bars and restaurants were. If you know what you want (and I learned the good stuff in Senegal) you get decent food anyway.
